Birth of a Mother
For Mother's Day, I led the creative direction on a collaboration between Perelel and Artifact Uprising, translating the raw, unscripted moments of early motherhood into a collection of photo gifts. Rather than leaning into a polished, aspirational take on motherhood, we wanted the campaign to hold space for its transformation — the messy, tender, in-between moments most brands skip past.
We centered the story on Cameron Oaks Rogers and Jaclyn Gibson, who shared intimate images from their own early motherhood, giving the campaign an emotional authenticity that couldn't be art-directed from scratch. To bring it to life beyond digital, we staged a live event in New York hosted by Cameron Oaks Rogers, extending the campaign into a physical, shareable experience for our community.
It’s magic, maybe a miracle–
the way that exact moment in time
took me from who I was
to who I was becoming.
This bloom, my bloom–
matrescence–at the essence of me.
My bending and unfolding.
My ebbing and my flowing.
My strength and gentleness
to be your pillar and soft landing.
And each year that goes by,
I’m reminded of your birth, (my birth)
and my becoming–me.
